What is a sarcoma
Sarcoma is the name for cancerous tumors in the body’s connective tissue and is separated into two main groups–bone sarcomas (tumors in the bone) and soft tissue sarcomas (tumors in the muscle, cartilage, nerves, fat, blood vessels and deep skin tissue).
Treatment for sarcomas
Our doctors use the following to treat sarcoma:
- Chemotherapy
- Radiation therapy
- Surgical removal of the tumor
In some cases, the effected limb may need to be amputated, however, our doctors use limb preservation techniques to save as much of the limb as possible.
