Today, Menorah Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City's largest healthcare provider—announced that Janie Thompson has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Leawood native returns to Johnson County after serving in various roles at HCA Healthcare’s St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, which is part of the St. David’s Healthcare system in Georgetown, Texas, most recently as COO. During her tenure, she developed and launched the first cardiovascular catheterization lab at the hospital, which added a new service line and advanced capabilities from diagnostic to interventional. Additionally, Thompson expanded imaging services, including 24/7 CT capabilities, weekend MRI coverage, and upgrading a new CT scanner and fluoroscopy suite.

“Janie Thompson is a vibrant and engaged healthcare leader with a proven track record of operational excellence and building a collaborative culture,” said Menorah Medical Center CEO Kirk McCarty, RN, MSN. “Her leadership and strategic vision will support our mission of providing a range of key services and world-class healthcare to the patients we serve in their backyard.”

“It is a thrill to return to my roots and serve the community where I grew up with Menorah Medical Center, a trusted partner in providing high-quality healthcare to patients,” Thompson said. “Many members of my family have been patients at Menorah Medical Center over the years, including my grandmother, who was cared for with love and compassion during her time as a patient. It is an honor to join the Menorah family, which is committed to innovation and expanding to meet the growing community's needs and contribute my expertise and passion.”

Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a master’s in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. She is a graduate of HCA Healthcare’s Executive Development Program (EDP) class of 2022, a cohort participant in HCA’s Early Careerist Collaborative (ECC) 202 and a graduate of the HCA Executive Residency Program (ERP) class of 2019.
