Overland Park, KS  Today, HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City's largest healthcare provider, announced that Kirk McCarty, RN, has been appointed CEO of Menorah Medical Center, effective June 1. An experienced senior leader with a proven track record of developing strong relationships with leaders, physicians and colleagues, McCarty brings broad expertise in driving quality, patient care, growth and financial performance results.

McCarty rejoins HCA Midwest Health from Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colo., part of HCA Healthcare, where he has served as CEO for the past four years and as the facility’s chief operating officer for the six years before that.

While leading Sky Ridge Medical Center, McCarty oversaw the growth of the hospital’s surgical program. During his tenure, the hospital launched its Center for Robotic Surgery and the International Center for Hip Preservation, advancing Sky Ridge as a destination surgical hospital in the region. Additionally, two departments were selected as the first and second top-rated Surgical Services Units of Distinction in all of HCA Healthcare. Under McCarty’s leadership, Sky Ridge earned numerous quality awards—including being named among Healthgrades’ Top 100 Hospitals nationwide. During his time there, Sky Ridge successfully increased colleague engagement scores and overall physician engagement scores, which now rank among the top percentile in HCA Healthcare.

“Kirk’s passion lies in developing high-functioning people and teams who lead change,” said HCA Midwest Health President Keith Zimmerman. “His stellar track record for physician relations and service line growth will help Menorah Medical Center strengthen its partnerships with local providers and the communities it serves and propel the hospital into its next growth phase.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Kansas City and join Menorah Medical Center to work with its extraordinarily talented team of dedicated and inspiring physicians, nurses and employees,” McCarty said. “I look forward to continue driving the hospital’s innovation, patient satisfaction and employee engagement and to offer residents of the communities we serve the high-quality, compassionate, accessible and technologically advanced healthcare they have come to expect from Menorah Medical Center.”

McCarty earned his bachelor’s in nursing from Truman State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the Research College of Nursing. He is also a graduate of HCA Healthcare’s Chief Nursing Development Program.
