STEMI Center
The State of Missouri has designed Lafayette Regional Health Center as one of 55 STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) centers.
The Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) System's STEMI designation is designed to help first responders quickly identify hospitals best equipped to treat STEMI patients. Lafayette Regional Health Center has achieved the status of a Level III STEMI Center. This means the hospital offers regional access to the TCD system and refers patients to a higher level of care if needed.
A STEMI is a potentially fatal type of heart attack. Still, specific therapies, if given quickly, can reduce the chance of death and disability. People suffering from a STEMI and transferred to a STEMI center will receive quicker response times and improved survival and recovery rates.
The TCD system allows resource sharing to decrease duplication and costs for services, including 911 and emergency medical dispatch and pre-hospital response and transport.

Coronary calcium scoring
Lafayette Regional Health Center offers the latest coronary calcium scoring with computerized tomography (CT) scanner equipped with low-dose technology to limit radiation exposure.
A coronary calcium score is a way of evaluating a person’s risk for a heart attack. This scan shows the location and extent of calcified plaque in the walls of coronary arteries.
The coronary calcium scoring scan takes five to 10 minutes and is non-invasive, so there’s no pain. It can help detect coronary artery disease, which is a leading cause of heart attack in adults.
This test is not covered by most health insurance or health plans. The test fee is $50, payable by check, credit card or cash at the time of service.
You can learn more about the risk of heart disease for you or a loved one through our profiler.
Care Assure
We're always looking for ways to improve healthcare. That’s why we created Care Connect, which makes healthcare easier to navigate. It connects you to the right care at the right time and keeps you and your loved ones healthy.
With Care Assure, one of Care Connect's programs, we can automatically screen the results of tests performed during an emergency or doctor's visit to identify warning signs and prevent emergencies such as a heart attack or a cerebrovascular accident (stroke). Suppose test results show you're at risk for a potential emergency. In that case, a specially trained nurse will contact you to help connect you to the follow-up care you'll need to prevent a future emergency.
