Stephen Dickson, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist with Midwest Heart and Vascular Specialists in Independence, MO. He is affiliated with Research Medical Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, and Menorah Medical Center.

With over 9 years of experience, Dr. Dickson is determined to provide cutting-edge care in pragmatic fashion. As Director of Centerpoint’s Heart Failure Program, Dr. Dickson leads a multidisciplinary team to provide contemporary, guideline-directed therapies in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Centerpoint Heart Failure Clinic focuses on aggressive guideline-directed medical therapy including the “4 Weeks, 4 Meds” program and succeeds when patients live longer, feel better, and stay out of the hospital. Dr. Dickson also serves as the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine for Centerpoint.

Dr. Dickson earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai in New York, NY, where he also completed a master’s degree in cardiovascular research. His post-graduate training included an internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX followed by a fellowship in cardiology at the University of California at San Diego, where he served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Dickson is board certified in internal medicine and cardiac echocardiography, and is HSFA (Heart Failure Society of America)-certified in heart failure.

Dr. Dickson has been recognized with awards from the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America. He has presented at multiple international cardiology conferences and authored over a dozen academic manuscripts pertaining to heart failure, substance abuse, and the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis.
