School of Nuclear Medicine Technology

The Research Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is a 12-month program providing clinical education to students who strive to achieve excellence in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Graduates will obtain the knowledge required of an entry-level nuclear medicine technologist (NMT). These responsibilities are varied and can include performing radiation safety and quality control procedures, preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating nuclear medicine instruments, positioning patients for imaging procedures, processing of clinical computer data, collecting, preparing, and analyzing biologic specimens, preparing data for the physician's interpretation and performing PET/CT scans. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).
