Nurse residency program
Research Medical Center proudly offers a nurse residency program for new graduates
In addition to facility orientation and unit preceptorships, Research Medical Center is proud to offer the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™, a nationally recognized nurse residency program. The program is a one-year mentoring and educational program designed to support new nurses. It assists nurses in transitioning to practice, improving their confidence, critical thinking and leadership skills.
As having a Level I Trauma Center, a Level I Stroke Center, and a burn center located in the heart of Kansas City, Research Medical Center's nurses care for a variety of complex cases in many different specialty areas. The nurse residency program is tailored to meet the needs of new nurses, preparing and supporting them to provide excellent care to the patients we serve.
- Nurse residency meets once a month
- Research Medical Center experts provide educational content in the areas of patient outcomes, leadership and professional development
- Nurse residents complete an evidence-based practice project within residency
- Residents are paired with Research Medical Center nurse facilitators who mentor and support residents
Nurse residency programs have been shown to improve nurse satisfaction and retention. Research Medical Center's investment in nurse residency is a commitment to excellence in nursing. In nurse residency, nurses are provided with access to resources and education to ensure their success.
