“Out of nearly 4,500 hospitals evaluated for specialty care excellence nationwide, HCA Midwest Health is honored to have two hospitals recognized in the top 50 for surgical care right here in Kansas City, and three hospitals recognized as top 100 in the country for multiple service lines,” says HCA Midwest Health President Keith Zimmerman. “These awards speak to our organization’s commitment to high-quality specialty care and our dedication to strong physician partnerships to achieve results that matter to consumers. We are proud our investments in our caregivers, processes, technology and training make a difference in healthcare, and we will continue making clinical quality a priority and delivering outstanding care.

In addition to being named among America’s 50 best hospitals for surgical care, Menorah Medical Center was also named one of America’s best hospitals for joint replacement and orthopedic surgery. Centerpoint Medical Center added several additional accolades, including top 100 hospital recognition for orthopedic, spine and vascular surgery, as well as critical care and pulmonary care.

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals for specialty care. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation in patient outcomes between hospitals with a 2023 Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Award and hospitals that did not receive the award.

“We commend HCA Midwest Health for its ongoing commitment to providing high-quality care to patients being treated for/undergoing the recognized service lines,” says Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “Consumers can feel confident that recipients of the 2023 Excellence Award in the service lines of surgical care, cardiac, stroke care, gastrointestinal surgery, joint replacement, orthopedic surgery, coronary intervention, spine surgery, pulmonary care, vascular surgery, and critical care have demonstrated their ability to deliver consistently exceptional outcomes.”
