KANSAS CITY, MO — Research Medical Center ranks in the Top 2 in Missouri for stroke care and is a Stroke Excellence Award Winner, according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians, and health systems. For the State Ranking analysis, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide focusing on eight key specialties across a mix of chronic, urgent, and planned clinical areas.

Hospitals recognized as among the Top Ranked in their state by Healthgrades are providing patients with measurably superior clinical outcomes. For the 2022 Analysis, Healthgrades compared state ranking recipients as a group, to all other qualified hospitals, as a group, and found:

  • From 2018-2020, patients treated at hospitals receiving a state ranking for Stroke Care have on average:
    • 38.4% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that were not state ranked for Stroke Care. *
  • From 2018-2020, patients treated at hospitals which did not receive a state ranking for Stroke Care have, on average:
    • 1.62 times more likely to die than if they were treated in hospitals that were state ranked for Stroke Care. *
