Call it power to the people, a lifeline or one giant step forward for personal, proactive healthcare today as HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network, launches the revolutionary iTriage application for smartphones. HCA Midwest, in partnership with Lakewood, Col.-based Healthagen, is making available the first free healthcare information software product which allows patients to have up-to-date and instantaneous medical information literally in their hands.

iTriage, which is available for the iPhone, Android, Palm, BlackBerry and other Web-enabled devices, offers information on symptoms, diseases, medical procedures, urgent care facilities and other vital health-related searches to help consumers make more informed and immediate healthcare decisions. The leading-edge technology even provides turn-by-turn directions to an HCA Midwest facility for treatment.

Steve Corbeil, president of HCA Midwest, says iTriage is another way to advance the healthcare system’s commitment of delivering excellent patient care. “All of our hospitals are committed to providing every patient with the highest level of care in an environment where people, compassion, community and integrity are valued,” says Corbeil. “iTriage is in tandem with our objectives of providing the Kansas City region another tool to access quality healthcare.”

HCA Midwest is the Kansas City area’s largest healthcare network and private sector employee, consisting of 10 hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, physician practices, surgery centers and more than 8,000 employees. Midwest Physicians, part of HCA Midwest, consists of practices located throughout the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area and is staffed with experienced primary care and multi-specialty physicians. In addition, HCA Midwest and its hospitals provide an array of other innovative services to meet the healthcare needs of the greater Kansas City area. HCA Midwest has invested more than $600 million to enhance and expand patient services since April 2003.
