HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider and private-sector employer, announced today that it has acquired a majority interest in Heart of America Surgery Center in Wyandotte County, Kansas, a partnership with Kansas City Specialty Physicians, LLC.
Heart of America Surgery Center, previously owned by Providence Medical Center, opened in 1999 and is the only multi-specialty, freestanding ambulatory surgery center serving residents of Kansas City, Kansas.
The Heart of America Surgery Center represents the sixth HCA Midwest Health System same-day surgery center in the Greater Kansas City area.
The acquisition will expand Heart of America Surgery Center’s clinical capacity in important surgical specialties in Wyandotte County. Currently the spectrum of services offered at the 15,000-square-foot Heart of America Surgery Center includes ophthalmology, orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, plastic surgery and ear, nose and throat (ENT). More than 25 specialists perform approximately 3,000 procedures annually.
