As Kansas Citians bid farewell to 2024 and ushered in the New Year, Mariel and Anthony of Lenexa, Kan., were preparing for the birth of their first child at Menorah Medical Center. About four hours after midnight, Mariel and Anthony welcomed Baby Girl Londyn into the world at 3:56 a.m. Not only is Londyn, 8 pounds, 8 ounces, Menorah Medical Center’s first baby of 2025, but it’s also HCA Midwest Health’s first baby of the new year.

HCA Midwest Health delivers 6,000 babies annually, which is more than any other hospital system in the Kansas City area. The region’s leading healthcare provider is also home to four advanced neonatal intensive care units: Research Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, and Menorah Medical Center.

When Mariel, originally from Holcomb, Kan., learned Londyn was the first of the new year’s thousands of babies to be born at HCA Midwest Health hospitals, she responded, “Oh my goodness, that’s incredible and so special!”

The elated parents shared with their care team at Menorah Medical Center how blessed they are to be new parents on the first day of 2025.
“We are so grateful for the endless support of family and friends and thankful for the care and compassion we received from the labor and delivery nurses and doctors,” Mariel said. “My first delivery was an incredible experience for Anthony and me.”

The new "Girl Dad", originally from Basehor, Kan., agreed with Mariel.

“We couldn’t ask for a better way to ring in the new year by welcoming our sweet baby girl,” Anthony said. “New Year’s will always have a significant place in our lives!”

“Menorah Medical Center delivers hundreds of babies each year, and each new life is a wonderful blessing to our families, physicians, and caregivers,” said Menorah Medical Center CEO Sean Kamber. “We are honored Mariel and Anthony trusted our dedicated team with their care and wish them and Londyn the very best in 2025.”
