OVERLAND PARK REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER RECEIVES RECOGNITION AS AN APPROVED TEAM OF THE AMERICAN CLEFT PALATE CRANIOFACIAL ASSOCIATION

Overland Park, KAN.  – Overland Park Regional Medical Center announced today that its Cleft Palate and Craniofacial program has earned Cleft Palate Team recognition from the Commission on Approval of Teams of the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA). Kansas City Cleft & Craniofacial Care leads the program and is one of over 200 Approved Teams in the U.S. and Canada recognized for meeting the Standards of Team Care for Cleft and Craniofacial Teams. Patrick Christopher, DDS, MD and Robert Weiss, DDS, MD, spearhead the practice, based at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

The ACPA Team Approval process ensures that cleft and craniofacial care is coordinated and consistent, follows the proper sequence, and takes place within the framework of the patient’s overall developmental, medical and psychological needs. Teams are comprised of experienced and qualified professionals who work in an interdisciplinary and coordinated system to provide strong and reliable communication between team members, families and referring providers.

The team’s approval is effective for five years, starting Jan. 1, 2025.

“I am incredibly proud of OPRMC’s Cleft and Craniofacial team for their recent accomplishment of becoming an ACPA-approved cleft team,” said Overland Park Regional Medical Center CEO Matt Sogard. “This significant milestone reflects our commitment to serving patients in need of complex cleft palate, lip, and craniofacial care at the highest level possible.”

The ACPA website lists Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s Cleft Palate and Craniofacial program team on its website, which is available for the general public to reference when choosing a provider for cleft and craniofacial healthcare needs.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from such an esteemed organization,” said Patrick Christopher MD, DDS, Medical Director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Team at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. “We are committed to providing our patients with multidisciplinary, compassionate and individualized care while ensuring that every aspect of their needs are met.  This honor is a testament to our team’s dedication and passion for each patient we treat.”

The Commission on Approval of Teams was established in November 2008 to manage an approval process to facilitate improving team care. ACPA Team Approval is an independent process that ensures patients and families receive accurate information. Approval by the Commission does not imply endorsement of the quality of treatment or services provided by any approved team member. For more information, visit.
