HCA Midwest Health welcomes first baby of 2024 at Research Medical Center
Baby boy Angel, born on Jan. 1 at 12:23 a.m., was an early surprise to mom Crhystell and dad Axel.
As Kansas Citians were bidding farewell to 2023, and celebrating the New Year, Crhystell Guzman and Axel Peralto of Kansas City, Missouri were unexpectedly preparing for new baby at Research Medical Center — part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s premier healthcare leader. They soon learned that Baby Boy Angel not only would be arriving soon, but would also be HCA Midwest Health’s first baby of 2024, born at 12:23 a.m., Jan. 1, weighing five pounds.
“The delivery went well, and although labor was hard, we are grateful for the care Research Medical Center has provided us during our delivery and hospital stay,” said the new mom. “Angel was born early, at 36.5 weeks, so he came as a bit of a surprise. Axel and I have a little five-year old girl and can’t wait to have her meet our new Ange and her little brother.”
“Research Medical Center delivers hundreds of babies each year and each baby is a wonderful blessing to our families, physicians and caregivers,” said Research Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Paul Hancock, M.D. “It’s even more special when it occurs on a holiday such as New Year’s Day. We’re honored this family trusted our dedicated team with their care and wish them the very best in 2024.”
The staff at Research Medical Center celebrated the joyous occasion by gifting the family a “Mommy and Me” care basket filled with snacks, a blanket and goodies for the family to enjoy.
HCA Midwest Health delivers more babies than any health system in the region and is home to four advanced neonatal intensive care units including Research Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, and Menorah Medical Center.
