Chest pain may indicate a heart attack. Overland Park is also one of five HCA Midwest Chest Pain Centers, meaning our team is especially focused on the rapid treatment of patients with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms.
Signs of a stroke may suggest a brain injury, and emergency medical care is necessary to prevent disability or loss of life. Our facility is a Certified Primary Stroke Center recognized by the Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and is able to treat stroke effectively and quickly.
Trauma center for high-risk emergencies
The ER at Overland Park Regional Medical Center has the only Level II Trauma Center in Johnson County. Verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), our team can handle severe and sudden illnesses as well as life-threatening injuries.

We are designated as one of the few collaborative centers in the nation by the Chest Wall Injury Society. Our Chest Wall Injury Center provides operative and non-operative care to patients with chest wall injuries and aims to provide the best possible outcomes for these patients.
Pediatric emergency care in Overland Park
All of our ERs are kid-friendly. This means our staff is specially trained to deliver pediatric emergency care to children. With advanced equipment modified for child examination and designated physicians, nurses and child life specialists, our state-of-the-art pediatric ER at Overland Park Regional Medical Center is dedicated exclusively to treating kids.
Our facility also has the only pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Johnson County. Our PICU has a playroom, video games and a family room. Additionally, children's rooms are designed so a relative/guardian can stay overnight.

Sometimes, families cannot make it to our primary location. To meet that need, we have freestanding ERs, increasing families' options for emergency treatment. Our medical team at the ER of Olathe serves communities in southern Johnson County and the ER of Shawnee delivers care to families in northeast Johnson County.
