Cardiac testing

We have worked with other Midwest Heart Care facilities in the Kansas City area to develop a sophisticated imaging network that stores the actual images recorded during cardiac angiography, echocardiography or EKG. Our patients can feel confident that their heart history is immediately available to our qualified heart care specialist no matter where they are.

Tests we perform at Lee's Summit include:

  • 16-slice computerized tomography (CT)
  • Angiogram
  • Arterial doppler
  • Cardiac imaging
  • Cardiac ultrasound
  • Coronary angiography
  • Echocardiogram
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Electrophysiology study
  • Exercise stress test
  • Holter monitoring
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Tilt table testing
  • Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)

Coronary calcium scoring

A CT scan for a coronary calcium score is a convenient and noninvasive way of evaluating your risk for a heart attack. This scan shows the location and extent of calcified plaque in the walls of coronary arteries.

The coronary calcium scoring scan takes five to 10 minutes and is noninvasive, so there's no pain and no injections. The results of this can help your physician detect coronary artery disease, which is a leading cause of heart attacks in men and women.

This test isn't covered by most health insurance or health plans. The test fee is $50, payable by check, credit card or cash at the time of service.

Peripheral Vascular PV Clinic

Patients diagnosed with heart disease are at significantly higher risk of developing other vascular diseases, which can lead to high blood pressure, heart attack, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), or other serious conditions.

The PV Clinic at Lee's Summit Medical Center was developed with these patients in mind and offers early screening and detection that can prevent vascular disease from worsening.

To learn more or to schedule an appointment with the PV Clinic, call (816) 607-2950.

Cardiac rehab

The accredited cardiac rehabilitation program at Lee's Summit Medical Center is a medically supervised exercise program designed to improve cardiovascular health for people who have or are at high risk for heart disease. Patients enrolled in this program are given tailored support and guidance in achieving cardiovascular fitness through exercise and nutrition.

In addition to setting individual exercise plans, the cardiac rehabilitation program staff provides counseling and continuing education to help patients control or eliminate cardiac risk factors and make a lifetime commitment to a heart-healthy lifestyle outside of the hospital.

Care Connect

We've created a program called Care Connect that makes healthcare easier to navigate. It connects you to the right care at the right time and keeps you and your loved ones healthy.

Care Assure, one of Care Connect's programs, allows us to screen the results of tests performed during an emergency or doctor's visit to identify any warning signs and prevent emergencies such as a heart attack or a stroke. If the results show you're at risk for a possible cardiac episode, a trained nurse will contact you to connect you to the care you need to help prevent a future emergency.
