Rehabilitation Services at HCA Midwest Health

If your life is being limited by an injury, the aftereffects of a stroke, a chronic disability or any condition that limits strength, mobility or functioning, HCA Midwest Health’s Rehabilitation Services can help. Our hospital-based programs offer the full range of rehabilitation services, from 24-hour trauma care to therapy to help you regain functionality and independence.

Our programs are designed to provide the most appropriate level of care for patients needing rehabilitation services. Our expertise in treating a range of disorders, from the most complex neurological conditions like spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and traumatic brain injury, to the familiar, such as arthritis, chronic pain, joint replacement and sports injuries, has helped thousands of patients get back to their lives over the past 20 years.

An exceptional team of physicians, therapists, nurses and other experts lead our programs to provide the skills and programming to help patients return to their highest functional ability. Because all our rehabilitation programs are located within major medical centers, you’ll have access to other medical specialists, the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, and all the resources of HCA Midwest Health.

Complete care for your specific needs

All HCA Midwest Health hospitals provide acute therapy, which may be offered during your stay at the hospital. This type of rehabilitation is to help you regain strength and mobility prior to returning home. If more extensive therapy is required, you may be referred to one of our Inpatient rehabilitation facilities or outpatient clinics.

Two of our hospitals—Menorah Medical Center and Research Medical Center—offer inpatient rehabilitation, for patients who require 24-hour care and intensive daily therapy as they rehabilitate. Admission to this level of care must be approved by our medical directors, usually a physiatrist—a doctor who specializes in physical medicine and rehab. In inpatient rehab, you’ll participate in a combination of therapies designed for your specific needs and goals. You can expect to spend 3 hours a day, 5 days a week in physical, occupational and/or speech therapies, depending on the plan of care you and your rehab team have developed.

Our inpatient programs are capable of helping patients rehabilitate from severe injuries and conditions, including:

Rounding out the full range of rehab services, all of our hospitals offer outpatient rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapy. Our outpatient programs offer specialized services for customized treatment plans, providing the intensive therapy needed to get you back to your life as quickly and completely as possible. In addition to the traditional outpatient therapy services, our programs also offer:

  • Aquatic therapy
  • Cancer rehabilitation
  • Cardiac rehabilitation
  • Hand therapy
  • Lymphedema therapy
  • Sports medicine
  • Concussion recovery
  • Vestibular therapy
  • Women’s health therapies (pelvic floor and incontinence)
