Does a hospital having a trauma designation really make a difference?

Getting to a trauma center can be a life or death decision, but you may not get to choose. You may be coming in an ambulance or may be unconscious. But the HCA Midwest Health trauma network serves the entire region in Missouri and Kansas, which can make all the difference in treatment.

Look at our fact sheet and you will see our trauma network covers the entire area. Our centrally located trauma center at Research Medical Center is Level I, the highest level for trauma care designated by the Missouri Department of Health. We also cover the area with Level II trauma centers at Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Centerpoint Medical Center and Level III trauma center at Belton Regional Medical Center.

But no matter where you arrive in our system, we can get you access to the trauma services you need. We have highly trained trauma physicians, surgeons and critical care nurses and other staff members who are available around the clock. They are ready to provide acute care from arrival in our emergency room through intensive treatment and rehabilitation. We have the services throughout our network and your care will not be disrupted.

No one wants to think about needing trauma care, but know that when you think of it, you want to be in an HCA Midwest Health hospital. We are ready to handle every trauma situation, wherever you are throughout the area.
