Overland Park Regional Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider—has earned two certifications one from The Joint Commission: Gold Seal of Approval® and a second from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers and a full accreditation in Chest Pain care, treatment and services. The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations. The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit entity certifying health care organizations across the United States.
Overland Park Regional Medical Center underwent a rigorous onsite review recently during which Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with stroke-related and chest pain standards and requirements, including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement.
“Overland Park Regional Medical Center has thoroughly demonstrated the greatest level of commitment to the care of stroke and chest pain patients through its Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers and Chest Pain,” says Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. “We commend Overland Park Regional Medical Center for becoming a leader in stroke care and chest pain, potentially providing a higher standard of service for stroke and heart patients in its community.”
“Overland Park Regional Medical Center is pleased to receive advanced certification from The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association,” says Overland Park Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Kevin J. Hicks. “The certification provides us with the opportunity to highlight the exceptional stroke and chest pain care we provide, as well as to continually strive to advance our care to this community even further.”
“Obtaining full accreditations from both The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association are some of the strongest affirmations we can receive for the work we are doing to ensure our patients receive the fastest, most proven and state-of-the-art treatment for stroke and chest pain,” says Overland Park Regional Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Jim Beatty, FACHE. “These designations align with our commitment and dedication to provide top-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families.”
