Lee’s Summit Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Jackie DeSouza announces the appointment of three community leaders to the hospital’s board of directors. Stanley R. Beatty, Chad Hertzog and Carolyn P. McKnight, Ed.D., joined the board recently along with current board members, Lawrence Bivins, Christopher Daggett, MD, Jon Ellis, Julie Doane, Herbert Dempsey, MD, Darlicia Alexander, MD, Lynn Hinkle, Kathryn Hedges, MD and Rev. Hubert Neth to help carry out the hospital’s mission as a community-based healthcare leader that serves patients with high-quality and compassionate care. Beatty, Hertzog and McKnight will each serve a three-year term on the board.
Beatty is a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area and longtime Lee’s Summit resident known for his philanthropic and volunteer involvement. Currently Beatty serves as a board officer for Niles Home for Children; serves on the planning committee for Lee’s Summit’s Annual Martin Luther King celebration; and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He also serves as a deacon and stewardship chairman of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. He lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife, Patricia, and has two grown children.
Hertzog is a well-known Lee’s Summit educator and is currently the assistant principal and activities director at Lee’s Summit High School. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principal’s Association; the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals; and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, among others.
McKnight is a distinguished college professor and administrator for the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Currently McKnight is the Summit Center Site Director for UCM in Lee’s Summit, the primary off-campus center for the school. She is also involved in myriad community activities, including the Lee’s Summit Civic Roundtable; the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council; the Kansas City Area Development Council; Lee’s Summit 360; Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce; and Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club, among others. She is married to Spencer and has two children.
