Lee’s Summit Medical Center, part of HCA Midwest Health System—Kansas City’s largest healthcare network and private-sector employer—announces five physicians joining its staff and Midwest Physicians. Midwest Physicians, which is part of HCA Midwest Health System, is a network of experienced, multi-specialty physicians located throughout the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Richard Brown, MD, FACC; Michael B. Dahl, MD; Martha M. LaPietra, MD; Valaree Smith, DO; and Megan L. Sneed, MD, offer a diverse range of medical expertise for people living and working in Lee’s Summit and surrounding communities.
Dr. Brown joins the cardiology department at Lee’s Summit Medical Center as a cardiologist and medical director of the hospital’s comprehensive cardiology services. His clinical skills include pacemaker and device implantation, nuclear cardiology, advanced lipid management and preventative cardiology. Dr. Brown received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency and a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Kansas Hospital.
Dr. Dahl practices internal medicine and his special interests include diabetes diagnosis and management and hypertension management. He also provides joint injections and skin lesion removal. Dr. Dahl received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
Dr. LaPietra practices internal medicine, and her special interests include caring for women. She also provides biopsies and skin lesion removals. Dr. LaPietra attended medical school and completed her residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.
Dr. Smith joins Lee’s Summit Medical Center following a fellowship with the UMKC School of Medicine at Truman Medical Center-Lakewood and a residency with Research Family Medicine. She received her medical degree in osteopathic medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is board-certified in family medicine and geriatric medicine. She will see geriatric patients at Lee’s Summit Medical Center and surrounding assisted living facilities. Dr. Smith will also do home visits.
Dr. Sneed practices obstetrics and gynecology, and her special interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, pelvic floor reconstruction and urogynecology. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed her residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill.
