Today more than 50 nurses at Research Medical Center (RMC), part of HCA Midwest Health — Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider—marked National Nurses Day by dressing in uniforms that hold personal significance. Some nurses wore uniforms handed down to them from a mother, aunt, grandmother or a role model who practiced the profession.
Research Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Paige Baker, RN, MSN, chose to wear a vintage uniform—the one she wore on her first day of work at Research Medical Center after graduating from Research College of Nursing more than 20 years ago.
"Nursing is at the heart and soul of our organization, providing compassionate care to those most vulnerable," says Baker. “Today we not only celebrate the men and women dedicated to taking care of the whole person—their physical, spiritual and emotional needs—we also pay tribute to Research Medical Center's rich 128-year history of nursing care in this community.”
