When it comes to breast cancer, The Breast Center of Menorah Medical Center, accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), sends a distinct and clear message to patients: No one rides alone on this journey.
For the fifth year in a row, Menorah Medical Center — part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider — partners with Gail’s Harley-Davidson for a symbolic 100-mile ride. This special event was created to raise awareness about breast cancer and to support survivors of the disease that, according to the American Cancer Society, nearly 240,000 women are diagnosed with annually.
Now hundreds of riders — many dressed in pink — join the event.
This year’s Annual Pink Power Ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at the Menorah Medical Center campus with pre-ride mammograms followed by a free hot breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the escorted ride will depart at 10 a.m. Riders in the 100-mile poker run will have the opportunity to win more than $200 in prizes and the chance to win a Harley-Davidson. The top hand will also receive a $750 gift card to Gail’s Harley-Davidson. In addition, Gail’s will provide a free lunch and live entertainment following the ride’s conclusion. All ride proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Cheryl Johnson, Director of Imaging Services and The Breast Center at Menorah Medical Center, says the Pink Power Ride signifies the intensive support for breast cancer awareness, education and research and the recognition of survivorship. “The Breast Center at Menorah demonstrates a firm commitment to offer our patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast diseases with advanced technology and some of the area’s best physicians. The outpouring of community support in events such as the Pink Power Ride is vital to people involved in the journey of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.”
Fully accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, The Breast Center at Menorah Medical Center provides comprehensive breast care from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship care. This prestigious, all-encompassing accreditation recognizes research-based standards of care and quality initiatives as well as physician leadership and vision. Only those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care, and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and performance review, receive NAPBC accreditation. This designation indicates that The Breast Center at Menorah is among the nation’s best comprehensive breast centers.
