WHAT: SUPERHERO KIDS HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR
WHEN: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015
WHERE: ER of Shawnee, 10310 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Shawnee, Kan., 66203
WHY: ER of Shawnee, Overland Park Regional Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider—will host a Superhero Kids Health and Safety Fair. The first 150 kids will receive a free stuffed animal and visit different stations where volunteers and staff will provide medical procedures for the toys while educating youngsters about health habits. The Midwest Neonatal Transport Team and an ambulance will be on hand to provide information about the specialized care a premature baby receives when transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s Level III NICU, Johnson County’s most advanced neonatal intensive care unit. In addition, members of the Shawnee Police and Fire Departments will attend and there will also be a free bike helmet giveaway and opportunities for mom and dad to learn about safety around the home from Charlie’s House and other vendors. Free refreshments from Smoothie King and Panera will be available and Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City will be onsite. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero.
