The NICU at Overland Park Regional Medical Center marks five years of offering neonatal whole body cooling for infants born with symptoms of birth-related brain injury that occur as a result of oxygen deprivation, Whole body cooling is effective in mitigating injury and preventing further brain damage in newborns. With survival rates of 92 percent, Overland Park Regional is the only hospital in Johnson County to offer this life-saving treatment.
