The Breast Center at Research Medical Center, part of HCA Midwest Health System, will sponsor the first of its Wednesday walk-in screening mammograms from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. The screenings will be available from Research Medical Center Breast Center professionals on the hospital’s main campus each Wednesday during October. No appointment is necessary.
Research Medical Center, which has online cancer risk assessments to help women identify early warning symptoms and determine risk of breast cancer, holds cancer screenings throughout the year. “We want women to be proactive regarding their breast health,” says Kevin J. Hicks, chief executive officer at Research Medical Center. “It’s vital for women to receive their annual mammograms and understand the importance of that tool in early cancer detection.”
The Breast Center at Research Medical Center helps promote awareness of early detection and good breast care for women of all ages. It also offers physicians one-call convenience for their patient’s complete breast care needs with a full-service multidisciplinary team including medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, clinical and nurse navigators, dieticians, genetics counselors, lymphedema specialist and pastoral care for psychosocial needs.
“We are committed at Research Medical Center to provide every patient with the highest level of care in an environment where people, compassion, community and integrity are valued,” says Hicks. “These cancer screenings help us support and offer cancer education within our community. There are no excuses to not get screened.”
