Belton Regional Medical Center Opens Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Lab

Todd Krass, Chief Executive Officer of Belton Regional Medical Center

Belton Regional Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider and private-sector employer—recently opened its CardioVascular Interventional Radiology Lab (CVIR). The award-winning hospital now offers patients seeking leading-edge technology and procedures a dedicated lab in their own backyard. Patients will now be able to receive cardiac procedures like cardiac catheterization, permanent pacemaker implant and cardioversion. In addition, interventional radiology procedures performed at the Belton Regional Medical Center CVIR include peripheral angiogram/intervention, PICC/port placement, IVC filter placement, GI tubes, biopsies and more. The skilled clinicians leading the CVIR Lab are Elizabeth V. Dang, MD, Cardiologist; Richard P. Brown, MD, Cardiologist; and Kevin L. Litwin, MD, Radiologist.

“This is an exciting addition to the services offered to our community,” says Todd Krass, Chief Executive Officer of Belton Regional Medical Center.  “It further strengthens the commitment Belton Regional Medical Center has made to offer convenient, high-quality and state-of-the-art technology and services to patients.”

“The wide range of heart, vascular and interventional procedures available at the Belton Regional Medical Center CVIR Lab offers options in a patient-friendly setting,” says Dr. Dang.  “I am pleased to be part of this groundbreaking service the hospital is offering to the community.”

“Our cutting-edge imaging and diagnostic techniques make it possible for many of our patients to avoid open surgery for even some of the most complex health problems,” says Dr. Brown. “Our treatments and technologies are at the forefront of minimally invasive modern medicine.”

“Many conditions that once required surgery can be treated nonsurgically by interventional radiologists at the Belton Regional Medical Center CVIR Lab,” says Dr. Litwin.  “Interventional radiology treatments offer less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to open surgery.”

Belton Regional Medical Center was named as one of the nation’s top performing hospitals on key quality measures for the second year in a row by The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accreditor of healthcare organizations. The hospital’s recognition by The Joint Commission is for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for pneumonia and surgical care.
